City Manager J.J. Murphy currently serves as a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves. He has served as an officer in the Air Force for over 17 years and has spent much of that time managing command and control centers in Africa, Haiti, and around the world. He is an ICMA Credentialed Manager and completed both the Gettysburg Leadership Institute and the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program in 2013. In 2014 he completed the Senior Executive Institute at the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, at the University of Virginia and the Dale Carnegie “Skills for Success.” .
